Processing a Capture
Turn a Capture into a 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) model. This guide covers choosing a processing backend and training parameters, starting and paying for a run, and opening the finished Scene in Blurry.
1. Choose a processing backend and training parameters
Choose the service that will process your source files, then review the settings that control the output.
Processing backends
A processing backend is the underlying service that trains a 3DGS model from your Capture. As part of our partnership with Teleport by Varjo, Blurry currently supports Teleport as its processing backend.
In the future we may support other processing backends. We are also developing Blurry's own processing pipeline, which will also be available soon.
Training parameters
Teleport provides a default preset for getting started. Select Default or Custom below to compare the available values for each training parameter.
| Parameter | Default | Custom |
|---|---|---|
Splat count Maximum number of Gaussian splats in the output. Higher counts can capture more detail but increase the file size. | Automatic, up to 4 million | 500,000 to 10 million |
Training resolution Image resolution used during training. Higher values can improve quality but take longer to process. | 1600 px | 1600 px, 2500 px, or 3200 px |
Spherical harmonics Controls view-dependent colour. Degree 0 is view-independent, while degree 3 captures full lighting detail. | Degree 3 | Degree 0 or degree 3 |
2. Start and pay for the processing run
Start a processing run after Blurry confirms that the Capture is ready, then authorise its payment through Stripe Checkout.
Start a processing run
Every source file must finish uploading before you can start processing. The Capture must also pass the validation rules for the selected backend, including the supported file types, number of files, and video duration. Blurry disables Start processing and displays the issue until the Capture is ready.
Review the training parameters and total amount, then select Start processing. Blurry redirects you to Stripe Checkout. After checkout, you return to the Capture and the processing run begins.
Processing run billing
Blurry charges for each processing run separately. You don’t need an active paid subscription to use processing. You can start paid processing runs even if you're on the Free plan.
Stripe Checkout authorises the payment method before the run begins. Blurry only captures the payment after processing finishes successfully.
3. Monitor the processing run
Follow the run from the Capture page and open its Scene when processing is complete.
Monitor run progress
Processing runs appear under Existing runs on the Capture page. Select a run from the list to open its details sidebar, where you can review its current status, activity timeline, and training parameters.
You can leave the Capture and return later. Select the run again to see its latest progress.
Open the Scene in Blurry
When processing finishes, select the completed run and choose Open scene in the details sidebar. Blurry opens the generated Scene in the editor, where you can review and refine the result.
Continue with the editor documentation to learn how to navigate Scene contents, align the model, and refine it with masks. When the Scene is ready, you can also share it or embed it on a website.
